Palm Tree Removal – Perth Residents Must Know Why Palm Trees Die

Home Improvement Tips

It is forbidden for anyone to cut trees without any permit. Yes, indeed this is true. Having the permit to remove a certain tree like palm trees can save you from lawsuits and the like later on. But why do people cut or remove palm trees? One of the main reasons is that these trees are already dead. Another reason is that these trees are severely ill – nothing can be done to save them. So instead of endangering the lives of the people living near these dead trees, it is better to remove them.

Palm tree removal, Perth residents say is the best service you can opt for in such circumstances. Know that there are experts when it comes to such task. Doing it by yourself might be dangerous so you really need to call for the help of the professionals.

Be reminded that palms are very vulnerable to acquiring infections caused by bacteria, fungi, and viruses, as well as infestations by insects along with other pests. Listed below are some of the common diseases and pests that affect the health of palm trees:

Diseases

Bud Rot – This is caused by a fungus that causes the heart fronds of a palm tree to wilt. Tree death will eventually occur afterward.

Fusarium Wilt – This is another palm tree fungus. Some of the signs of wilt include fronds wilting, losing their green luster, and eventually, dying. Once a certain tree is infected, be reminded that there is no cure and the diseased tree must be removed.

Lethal Yellowing – This is a diseased that was first noticed in the Caribbean region of North America about a century ago. But then, it was not until the 1950s that the economic consequences of lethal yellowing were recognized and intensive research indeed begun.

Ganoderma Butt Rot – This is caused by a fungus called Ganoderma zonatum which usually invades the base or butt of the palm trees going up to a height of 3-4 feet above ground.

Pests

Giant Palm Borer – This is a large ugly beetle whose larvae have a taste for the wood of the Phoenix and Washingtonia varieties. These pests can live inside a palm trunk for a maximum of 9 years before exiting as beetles via quarter-sized holes.

Palm Budworm – This is a beetle whose larvae feed on the flowers of fan palms. The caterpillars are pink-green in color and about an inch long.

Royal Palm Bug – These pests feed on the royal palm. The female lays one egg per day during the spring. The bugs don’t usually kill the host tree, however, the damage they do may be unsightly and they are very hard to control.

Maybe you are asking why you must remove a tree. Well, one of these reasons is that the tree is dead already because of certain pests and diseases. Apart from that, trees die because they are old already. Removing dead trees can help you save lives of other individuals.

Trees contribute a lot for humans to survive. Thus, it is not environment friendly to cut trees. But then, like humans, they die naturally or perhaps due to diseases. And when they die, they can harm humans, hence, they must be removed. Get expert help when this time comes.
